Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen & Bee Propolis for Fertility | Dalene Barton-Schuster, CH, Doula

Bees are amazing creatures. They produce a wide variety of substances, many of which have been found to have great health benefits for not only the bees but humans as well. Bee keeping and Apitherapy has been done for thousands of years, dating back around 6000 years ago. Apitherapy is the use of bee products honey, propolis, bee pollen and royal jelly for healing.

Many people are curious as to these health benefits reported by thousands of people and most notably by bee keepers themselves. With the variety of bee products out there, it can be confusing to know what the difference is between them, what their health benefits are and which product is best for certain health issues. Since this website is focused on fertility I am only going to list general information on the differences between Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen, and Bee Propolis and their health benefits in relationship to fertility and fertility issues. Dealing with PCOS: Consider Apitherapy

Again, a word I wasn’t aware of before the time I dealt with PCOS is APITHERAPY.

For anyone who doesn’t know what apitherapy means, this is simply the art of using honeybees’ products {which is where api is derived from, as bees mean apis in Latin} for medicinal use with the aim of promoting health and this has been in use for thousands of years. Some examples of honeybees’ products are pollen, propolis, royal jelly, honey, and beeswax. However, the honeybees’ products that have the most known use for fertility are royal jelly, pollen, and propolis. Continue reading

BPA, Infertility & Egg Health | Hethir Rodriguez C.H., C.M.T

The Study:
A small-scale University of California, San Francisco-led study has identified the first evidence in humans that exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) may compromise the quality of a woman’s eggs retrieved for in vitro fertilization (IVF). As blood levels of BPA in the women studied doubled, the percentage of eggs that fertilized normally declined by 50 percent, according to the research team.

The chemical BPA, which makes plastic hard and clear, has been used in many consumer products such as reusable water bottles. It also is found in epoxy resins, which form a protective lining inside metal food and beverage cans.

“While preliminary, the data indicate the negative effect of BPA on reproductive health and the importance of allocating more funding to further investigate why such environmental contaminants might be disrupting fertility potential,” said Victor Y. Fujimoto, MD, lead study author and professor in the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, who also is on the faculty of the UCSF Center for Reproductive Health.

Dealing with PCOS: A Big No to BPA Plastic

I’m back on the subject of PCOS  and finding natural ways to deal with it. Today, I would be looking into why using BPA Plastic may not help when dealing with PCOS. I was one who never knew the difference between BPA {Bisphenol A} plastic or non-BPA plastic. I just basically used any plastic available regardless of its BPA status. It wasn’t until I dug into my research on how to deal with PCOS naturally that I encountered the risk involved in using BPA plastics, especially when dealing with PCOS. Continue reading

It’s been a long time…

Hello everyone,

It has really been a long time since I last posted and I must say that I have missed being on my page posting educational articles and inspirational lines as well as interacting with everyone who stops by to view my blog. To answer your question of where I’ve been all this while. Well, I have been very busy with our latest addition to the family who joined us over 6 months ago. He’s getting bigger and bigger as the months roll by and sometimes, I wonder where the time has gone since I can still vividly remember his arrival to the world.

Now that I think my son and I have come to some kind of agreement as to how we both manage our time (him mostly using his for eating and sleeping), I believe it is high time I got back to blogging and I intend to start by completing the series on Dealing with PCOS: My Journey to Motherhood.

I would be giving the topic of Natural Fertility a lot more focus in the coming weeks and months as I believe a lot of people are searching for answers and support as they try to conceive.

Of course, there would still be some inspirational lines that I would keep posting as what is life without inspiration to achieve and I firmly believe these would be relevant for both those who are TTC and those who are not.

The long and short of this ‘homecoming’ post is that I’M BACK and I missed you all! So please, look forward to the coming posts from Open Pleasures.

Stay tuned!
